This post is about our thoughts and feeling after one month of our arrival in the US.

Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina, the county seat of Mecklenburg County.

The Catawba Indians were the first known inhabitants of what is now Mecklenburg County (according to records from 1567). However, due to diseases (mainly smallpox) introduced by European immigrants, they were almost extinct by the mid-19th century. Later, the city was developed into an industrial and commercial center by immigrants from Germany.
More than a year before the American Declaration of Independence was passed in May 1775, the famous Mecklenburg Declaration proclaimed independence from England for the first time. The words First in Freedom on the license plates commemorate this event.

The "Queen City" was named in honor of Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, who was the wife of King George III.
It is the fifth fastest-growing metropolis in the USA (based on 2018 data).
Charlotte has previously been recognized as the Best Place to Live in America.

Charlotte is the 16th largest city in the US¹, so it's not really a metropolis, but it has a lot to offer. We didn't know much about the city before we moved here. Still, now we can say that it's an absolutely livable and loveable city. The city center is reminiscent of a typical American city with skyscrapers. Luckily, there are many green spaces and parks.
There is an amusement park called Carowinds on the border of North and South Carolina (a few minutes from us), and countless restaurants, breweries, entertainment, sports facilities, and various events.

The city is vibrant; you will undoubtedly fall in love with Charlotte if you like this kind of bustle. This happened to us too. Charlotte is in our hearts now.
We haven't discovered everything yet, but we like living here, we feel good.
